Tan Sri Syed Agil bin Syed Hassan was born on 4th June 1923 in
Alor Star, Kedah. He received his early education at the Al-Mashoor
Islamic School, Penang and later at the Sultan Abdul Hamid College,
Alor Star. In 1958, he furthered his studies at the Middle Temple,
London and return to the country with a law degree.

- Senior Assistant Food Inspector (1945-1946)
- Assistant District Officer, Kota Star District and concurrently
became Second Class Magistrate in Alor Star (1950)
- Magistrate in Taiping (1951)
- Magistrate in Sungai Petani (1954)
- Acting President of Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur (1958)
- First Class Magistrate in Pulau Pinang
- President of Sessions Court in Alor Star (1958)
- President of Sessions Court in Johor Baharu (1960)
- Director of Anti-Corruption Agency in Kuala Lumpur (1966)
- High Court Judge and subsequently Federal Court Judge (1969-1988)

In appreciation of his services and contributions, he was bestowed
with several awards, which among them, include the Panglima Setia
Mahkota (P.S.M.) which carries the title Tan Sri and the Dato' Paduka
Mahkota Kedah (D.P.M.K.).
