Dato' Adzmi bin Abdul Wahab was born in 1943 in Kuah, Langkawi,
Kedah. He received his early education at the Kuah Malay Primary
School, Langkawi from 1949 until 1954. In 1955, he continued his
secondary education at the Georgetown Secondary School, Penang.
Later, he studied at Sekolah Menengah Tuanku Abdul Rahman School
(STAR), Ipoh from 1956 until 1963.
In 1967, he continued his tertiary education at the University
of Malaya and graduated in 1970 with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours)
specializing in Economics and Malay Studies. Later, in 1976, he
continued his studies in the field of Public Administration at the
University of Southern California, USA, graduating with a Master's
degree in Business Management (MBA).

In appreciation of his services and contributions to the government
and nation, he was bestowed several awards. Among them are the Excellent
Service Award from the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) in
1981, the Kesatria Mangku Negara (K.M.N.) award from His Majesty
the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1981, the Johan Setia Mahkota (J.S.M.)
award from His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1991, the Darjah
Setia DiRaja Kedah (D.S.D.K.) award from HRH the Sultan of Kedah
in 1994, the Panglima Jasa Negara (P.J.N.) award from His Majesty
the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in 1999, the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri
award from the Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang in 2000 and the
Dato' Paduka Mahkota Selangor award from HRH the Sultan of Selangor
in 2001.
