Dato Syeikh Abd. Halim was born on 3 March 1941 at Kampung Batu
Hampar, Merbok, Kedah. In 1963, he was offered a scholarship to
continued his studies at the Al- Azhar University, Egypt and he
obtained his Al-'Alamiah degree in 1967. Later, in 1985 he continued
his studies further at the Malaysian International Islamic University
for two years and obtained a Diploma in Islamic Laws.

His deep interest in the field of writing has encouraged him to
propose his bright ideas through the Friday Sermons, articles, working
papers and essays that were passed on to the religious officers.
He also produced a number of articles that were incorporated into
the SUARA magazine, published by Kedah Islamic Council.
In appreciation of his services and contributions, he was awarded
several awards which include the Bintang Cemerlang Kedah (B.C.K),
the Setia DiRaja (S.D.K) in 1986, the Bintang Perkhidmatan Lama
Kedah (B.P.C) in 1987 and the Dato' Setia DiRaja Kedah (D.S.D.K)
in 1990.
