Dato' Haji Fadzil bin Mohd. Noor was born on 13 March 1937, in
Kampung Seberang Pumpung, Alor Setar, Kedah. Affectionately called
Ustaz Fadzil, he was a respected religious figure. He started his
early education in 1946, at the Derga Malay School, Alor Setar until
1949. Later he studied at the Mahmud College in Alor Setar until
1962. He then enrolled himself at the Al-Azhar University in Cairo,
Egypt, where he graduated with a degree in Syairah Law.

He was invited to attend several Islamic conferences at the international
level in 1974, 1976 and 1979 and among them were the International
Seminar on Muslim Youth in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Conference
on Islamic Solidarity in Pakistan in 1988 and the Conference on
the Liberation of Al- Quds in America.
In appreciation of his services and contributions, to the state
of Kedah, he was conferred the award of the Dato' Setia DiRaja Kedah
(D.S.D.K.) which carried the title of Dato' by the HRH the Sultan
of Kedah.
He passed away peacefully on 23 June 2002.
