Y.B Dato' Chong Itt Chew was born on 24 June 1949 in Alor Star, Kedah.

• State Legislative Assembly Member for Kota Darul Aman (1990 - )
• Kedah State Executive Councillor (Industry, Science and Technology, Trade and Consumer Affairs Portfolio, 2004 - ).

In recognition of his contributions to society, he was bestowed the award Dato' Setia DiRaja Kedah (D.S.D.K), Ahli Mahkota Kedah (A.M.K) and Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (P.J.K).
