The throne is traditionally both
the Royal seat and the symbol of power for the State
of Kedah Darul Aman. The Throne, which can be found
in the Royal Audience Hall at the Anak Bukit Palace,
and which was commissioned in 1986, reflects the richness
of Kedah Darul Aman's traditional Malay culture. At
the top of its back can be found the Kedah Darul Aman
State emblem, layered with gold and supported at the
bottom by a carved design of "setar" flowers. At the
lower section one can find a striped design of padi
flowers, which further enhances the grandeur of the
throne itself. The throne's left, right and midsection
at the back are decorated with carvings of gold stars,
a symbol of Islam. The seat cushion is covered in
purple leather.
