Article 1 of the Laws of the Constitution
of Kedah Darul Aman states that "No one could be installed
onto the throne of the State of Kedah Darul Aman unless
his installation has first been approved by the Council
for the Installation of Sultan."

of Kedah Darul Aman states that "The Sultan must be
installed according to Customs of the State of Kedah
Darul Aman".
Article 33(a) of the Laws of the Constitution
of Kedah Darul Aman also states that "If the Sultan
so wishes, he could from time to time, make financial
arrangements for the Audience Hall and his Palace

Hall and his Palace and also to provide emoluments
for person involved with the State's ceremonies and
customs as they had to consider such customs and ceremonies
in detail so that it would indeed suit the accepted
customs and ceremonies of the State".
In an effort to update the Rules on
the Installation of the Sulan of Kedah Darul Aman,
so as to ensure that they run in tandem with the current
situation, the Sultan, in 1970 assented to the appointment
of a Committee with a duty to write the Rules on the
Customs and Ceremonies Governing the Installation
of the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman.
Rules of Installation in the
State of Kedah Darul Aman are part of a heritage passed
down from the Customs and Ceremonies practiced during
the rule of Sultan Rijaludin ibni Sultan Sulaiman
(1625 - 1651 A.D.), the Sultan of Kedah who ruled
from Naga, in the District of Kubang Pasu. The rules
affecting the work schedule for the Customs and Ceremonies
on the Installation of the Sultan of Kedah Darul Aman
are as follows: Deciding on the
Day of the Installation and the Appointment of a Committee;
The Departure of His Highness
the Sultan and Her Highness the Sultana for the Installation
Hall; The Royal Salute and
Inspecting the Guard-of- Honour; and The
Installation Ceremony.
